Stitched Panorama

During the medieval era the Romanians have been forced to live separated in three geographical areas and the Romanian language of the books was then the spiritual link between the people.

This room contains as exhibits: “The Bible from Bucharest”(1688)-“Biblia de la Bucuresti”, “Varlaam’s Homiliary” (1643)- “Cazania lui Varlaam”, “Legal Guidebook of Targoviste” (1652)- “Indreptarea Legii de la Targoviste”, “The Four Gospels” -“Tetraevanghel” parchment miniature created during Alexandru Lapusneanu’s reign, Christian Wisdom manuscripts from XV-th century (from Transylvania), the Transylvanian School’s books (“The Lexicon from Buda” and Petni Maior’s “The History of the Early Romanians in Dacia” and “The Romanian Orthography”.

The exhibition shows also over 80 golden princely charters engraved on parchment, confirming the continuous relationships between the Romanian regions.
